Great British Bake Off - GFM ClearComms

In honour of The Great British Bake Off returning to our TV screens this week, we held a number of fun-filled ‘Bake Off’ themed activities and competitions at our head offices in Colchester, which helped raise £129 for an employee who is currently recovering from injuries sustained in an accident.

The new series of The Great British Bake Off aired on Tuesday on Channel 4 following its move across from the BBC in 2017. The last series was won by Sophie Faldo in October 2017 and since then a celebrity version and Bake Off The Professionals have aired, making it seem as though the show has never really gone away. The line up of presenters and judges has also remained the same as last year, with established judge Paul Hollywood joined by food connoisseur Prue Leith and seasoned entertainers Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding taking on the roles of being the show’s hosts.

Arguably more importantly, the GFM Great British Bake Off event also took place on Tuesday, with all of their employees having been welcomed to work with plenty of tasty treats and baked goodies; which had kindly been baked and donated by staff. Shortly after the ‘GFM Great British Bake Off’ judging commenced with elected GFM judges Julie Estcourt and Jo Darvill deciding the winning entries – Oana Stafford coming out with the coveted title of GFM Star Baker. Following the judging taking place the GFM team were able to indulge in the cakes and participate in various fundraising activities, including a guess the number of sweets in a jar challenge, with all donations going towards their fundraising.

Reflecting on the day our Receptionist Michael Goulding, who organised the event, said: “I love watching The Great British Break Off and so do a lot of people here so I thought it would be a good idea to hold our own GFM version of the competition. The day was brilliant fun and all of our stomach’s were full of cake, but more importantly it helped raise funds to support our colleague’s recovery and hopefully let her and her family know that we are all thinking of them during what must understandably be an incredibly tough time.”
